IT, The Stick...A Story

Back in The Fall of 2021, I told you a story about a woman I met while waiting to be serviced at our nearby cell phone store.  Our meeting resulted in me becoming the owner of a walking stick...this walking stick to be specific.  I called it "IT".

After much urging from fellow walkers that Livy and I have met while walking at "the res, I finally decided to give the old stick a try because I actually needed "IT".  If ever you've over done it a little, you know what I mean.  For now I was limping and couldn't figure out why.

You see, my problem at the ripe old age of 76 is my head.  It apparently still thinks that I'm 18...that I can do all the things I want to do without suffering any repercussions.

LOL!

I'd been experiencing a lot of pain in my right leg...from my glute, along the outside of my thigh, right down to just below my knee.  I couldn't lie on that side while sleeping and I found that I couldn't even partake in my Tai Chi Classes anymore!!  The pain was horrible.  So, I dug out my walking stick hoping it would help  so I could take Livy for her walk.  We love our walks!!

Thanks to my walking stick and Livy's companionship, I made it...up and down the hills, over the trails through the woods and back to the car.

And even better, thanks to a friend of mine who is a retired Physical Therapist, I learned all about something called "IT Band Syndrome" and how to prevent it.  It is quite common in runners as well as people who often times overdo repetitive movements.  All I can say is...I am grateful for the woman who made me this walking stick, beyond grateful to Sue, and especially grateful to Livy for being so patient while I healed.

So here it is...months later and "IT" is in my car, often times accompanying Livy and I on our excursions.

seeing, saying, sharing...

My best friend has this! But I still think you should see a doctor. Hey, we are the same age!

I'm pretty sure this is what my daughter just had surgery for recently. I couldn't remember what it was called but this sounds like it. Glad you were able to find things that work
