Busy Pic
Hoping you are not saying to yourself, Oh no, not another view of the river, I had to share this photo. Taken on a very chilly morning when I was waiting and watching for sounds and or signs of the Bald Eagles, it has a lot going on. While it may appear rather ordinary to you, to me it's a very "busy pic". What I see is this:
morning mist
reflections
water
thin ice covering (perimeter of the Cove)
trees (deciduous and coniferous)
frozen droplets (appear like diamonds)
dried grasses in the Cove
and ONE VERY TINY RED-ORANGE FISHING LURE hanging almost in the middle of everything!
seeing, saying, sharing...

Speaking of fishing lures, I have to share a story. This just happened a few days ago. The raptor rehabilitation organization was told of a Barred Owl tangled in fishing line, dangling from a tree overlooking the water. They couldn't get to the bird alone. Calling in emergency personnel, the entire branch of the tree was severed and lowered so the bird could be reached. It had been dangling there since the night before and was so severely weak and injured, it had to be euthanized.
IF you are a fisherman, PLEASE NEVER LEAVE LINE, HOOKS, SINKERS, LURES behind.

Now, back to the Cove. Patience paid off. Thank goodness the adult was focused on bringing some of that dried grass to it's nearby nest rather than playing with the fishing line/lure dangling from the branch!
Comments
Yes, so important to take fishing line out of trees, brooks etc.
Poor owl.
