Winding Down
Collecting the remaining dried seed-heads first, the next step was to remove the stems and stalks along the upper stonewall. All sun-lovers are planted up on that wall as it gets the sun from the East all morning, followed by the Southern sun until mid-afternoon. Located not far from the feeders, the birds love the seed after the flowers fade but before I cut them down. Since we no longer need additional flowers in the yard, I scatter the seeds in and around the bird feeders each Fall. The patches of Black-Eyed Susan, Echinacea and Bee Balm have grown substantially in "their garden" too!
