Two Dogs...A Story

Way back in September, I met a woman who lives close to me.  Living close to the river, she heard of my quest, touched based with me and invited me down to their place.  Greeted by her five dogs totally explained why she'd asked me if I like canines.  We took a short three mile walk with Finley (on the left) and  Scrappy, who both love swimming in the river at their favorite spot.  With all five dogs being rescues, introducing an "add-on" was sometimes not easy, she told me.  In fact, Finely was always the "alpha" until Scrappy arrived.

Telling me that on one occasion, although there had never been any signs of aggression for months after getting Scrappy, one particular day at their favorite spot on the river, Scrappy pounced on Finley while in the water, gripping his neck holding him down under water.  She ran down to the river, grabbed Scrappy, who weighs about 75 pounds, with one hand and pulled with all her might to get him off of Finley, while grabbing Finely's collar with the other hand to lift him up for air!  Needless to say, Scrappy is now the "alpha".

Ending our walk with an open invitation to come down, use their property and best of all have any of the "family" accompany me while in the woods, I knew I'd be safe.  Both of the boys responded well to me as we walked back home, reassuring me that I would be in good hands.

That sounds like it could have been a bit scary there for a minute but dogs are always good protectors. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

Yikes that was scary for a bit, but I'm glad everything worked out well. It's good that you have a place to explore.

I hope you had a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Have a great day and weekend. ♥
I love dogs and these look like they love the outdoors! I like to see dogs able to run and play! The most afraid I was on a hike was when 2 dogs threatened me...but I survived! And I'm smarter now too. Enjoy your day!

Oh my, dogs really can be just like kids sometimes. Glad that Finley wasn't hurt in the dunking.
