Snow Cover
Shortly after it began snowing on Sunday, I stepped out under the pergola a took a quick pic. It had begun. The local forecast had predicted 4-8".
Two hours later, I saw all the turkeys (dark "blobs") hunkered down under the Eastern cedars which provide great cover for them as well as the deer.
Eastern red cedars are not really cedars. They are Junipers. While twigs and foliage are eaten by the "browsers", their berries are eaten primarily by Cedar Waxwings. Reaching a height of 40-50' they make excellent windbreaks and natural "screens."
