Teenagers

Watching them parade through the woods that edge our property, all I could do was wait until they got closer.  Following the "leader" they navigated their way through the brambles and brush that we leave intentionally, not only as a deterrent but also to provide for Mother Nature's creatures, they picked up their pace as they got closer to a food source.

Before I knew it they were feasting on all the dropped seed around the feeders and picking through the grass and the herbaceous patches for ticks.

All young jakes, they only hung around about an hour before returning to the woods to hunker down for the night.
