Making Room
Each year Alva comes out of her box in the closet and is given a drink of warm water. After hibernating since late Fall, she must be treated gently and not overwhelmed. "Water sparingly and trim any dead, dried shoots gently," said Joyce when she gave her to me. They (because now there are two large, oval pots of Alva) are then placed near the other houseplants.
This year, making room was a bit of a challenge.
