One cooler day over the Summer, I asked our BFF, Luke (which isn't his real name of course), to help the Pres "drop a tree."  Luke and I knew it was a necessity.

You see a few feet up from the base, the Pileated Woodpecker had virtually destroyed one complete side. The tree always leaned toward the house and garage and, according to Luke, "it is just a matter of time, JP" is what I heard every time he was at the house. "When are we going to take this tree down?"he would say to me in front of the Pres.

Finally, the Pres caved. Although he knew it had to come down, he was in no hurry to get it done but Luke was.

So, thanks to Luke's persistence, down it came. They planned on it falling so as not to hit our stonewall we built two years ago.

Surprised, that when it landed, only a few branches hit the wall,it was a relief knowing that it was no longer a threat to the house.

Of course, the perennials on the front side of the wall were squashed to oblivion under it's weight, but they're hardy and will rebound next Spring.

Making easy work of what I perceived as a major undertaking, in no time at all the three of us then began loading the debris onto the Pres' old trailer.

Since then, thanks to yet another friend, we have a fellow that wants the wood.  So now it's up to "Billy," who comes over periodically to cut what we have into lengths and pieces he can use.

just seeing, saying, and sharing...
