It Fits The Bill

Sometimes, all it takes is a quick pic.  And, although you may not see it when you take the photo, looking at it later serves as just a reminder.  This time, all it took was the pileated woodpecker who frequents the surrounding woods.




Looking at this pic makes me a tad dizzy.  However, you can see that this woodpecker was really into that "snag".

Did you know that "a snag" can occur naturally or can be created by birds and mammals, that is can be a standing dead or dying tree?

It appears that this visitor is giving Mother Nature a hand.



While the top of the tree is still very much alive and the emergence of branches along the lower part of the trunk continues, it is that one section which attracts him.  It is, after all part of Mother Nature's world.


Psssst...by definition, a snag should be at least three inches in diameter and six feet tall.
