A Little Extra Work
Once upon a time there were two older (note I did NOT say "OLD") people who lived in the country. As the Thanksgiving holiday was approaching, they knew they did not have room to have the entire family over. However, they were so thankful that they would now see their children and grand children that they decided a little extra work would be worth it.
Yep. The decision was made in the summer. Two Thanksgivings. One on Thursday and one on Friday. Oh don't you worry. The only leftovers to be served on Friday will be things like the re~heated corn and maybe some of the cranberry sauce. Friday's crowd will get all the freshness that Thursday's enjoyed!
Two 18 lb turkeys
Mashed potatoes (our home grown potatoes)
Pecan/Cranberry stuffing
Gravy
Green bean casserole
Corn (fresh frozen we did up in summer)
Turnips (garden grown)
Beets (garden grown) & onions
Biscuits
Cranberry sauce
Pumpkin pies to share and take home (limit one per family!)
Apple Crisp
Cranberry Pie
Yep. There's a lesson here:
Love is worth a little extra work!
