You're Off to See The Hollow...Follow the Gravel Road

After you leave the pavement, this sign appears.  Although in all actuality it is supposed to be erect, I found it lying on the ground on the side of the road. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAA!

There, ahead of you, is a bend and the creek is on your left.  Then up a ways, the creek crosses the road and it will be on your right.  There is a slight incline to the road at this point.

There is another mountain creek that feeds this one up here on your left.
See that black and white post...that's where the creek crosses the road.  After you round that bend, you see yet another bend.  And after you round that bend, you see the next.

And then you see, this old place.  Pretty neat knowing that someone lived there.  The siding that was on the bus has pretty much either fallen off or has been blown off...at least since we've been here.
The creek is on your left running in front of this place.  To get into this property and near the home, there logs crossing the creek.

As you round this bend, the creek is on your left.  However, there is a very small "feed" that is on the right side of the road.  Sometimes, when we get heavy rain, it swells and floods the road.

Looking up and to the right, you can see the top of the ridge.  It's very visible now that the leaves are almost gone and the trees resemble match sticks.

Then, after the next bend, nestled among the pines you'll see
Home in the Hollow. And the creek, which is now wider and deeper, runs along the right side of the road.   Hear the water?

Now that you've made it to the Hollow, why don't you continue following the gravel road.  I'll join you.  That way, Moon, Copper and I can show you the rest of our walk...:)

As we pass our house, the incline becomes steeper and we head up the mountain following the winding road.   Here we are...looking down on the Hollow.  See how wide the creek has become.  When we get heavy, heavy rains, the water climbs up those banks and moves earth like there's no tomorrow!

Now, as we look ahead, another bend and a little steeper incline awaits us.

This driveway belongs to my closest neighbor.  His place is on top of the ridge.  And if you turn around and look back over your shoulder, you'll be looking back at our barn.  Can you see the ridge-line in the distance?

Continuing on our uphill trek, yet another bend lies ahead.

It is an upward climb from here on, getting steeper and steeper.

And, to tell you the truth, I think we've had enough for one day.

However, I promise we will finish the walk...
following the gravel road...:)
